Preferred techniques of hair harvest for medical testing among adult pulmonary TB patients

This study explores the preferred techniques of hair harvest for medical testing among TB patients using a descriptive phenomenological approach. The research involved interviews with 15 TB patients and found that participants aged <30 years were more knowledgeable about salon-based hair cutting techniques, while those aged ≥30 had experience with all three techniques. Overall, the majority of TB patients were knowledgeable, experienced and flexible about hair cutting techniques, though efforts are needed to educate youth that hair for medical testing can be cut without changing cosmetic appearance.
