Uganda's flagship investment in homegrown research

The Makerere University Research and Innovations Fund (Mak-RIF) channels an annual Government of Uganda appropriation into competitive, high-impact research and innovations led by Makerere's own researchers — generating the evidence, technologies and skilled people the country needs.

  • Competitive grants open to all ten colleges of Makerere University
  • Research aligned to Uganda's national development priorities
  • Deliberate pathways from findings to policy, products and practice
