Analysing the coping and adaptive strategies for Refugees in Swinga, Zone 2, in Bidibidi settlement, Yumbe District in Uganda

The study examined the livelihoods, coping and adaptive techniques used by refugees in Swinga in Bidibidi settlement in the Yumbe district. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative analyses, the study identified over 24 coping strategies utilized by refugees across Swinga. The qualitative data and insights gathered were analysed using Nvivo and Atlas software version 26, while quantitative household survey employed a structured tool to a randomly chosen refugee 397 households. The study highlights the economic and livelihood disparities experienced by marginalized refugees and emphasizes the urgent need for more tailored humanitarian interventions for most vulnerable, moderately vulnerable, and hard-to-reach refugee groups.
