Uptake of intrauterine contraception after medical management of first trimester incomplete abortion: A cross-sectional study in central Uganda

A cross-sectional study conducted between February 2023 and September 2023 among 650 women aged 15-49 years in central Uganda to determine the uptake and factors associated with uptake of post abortion intrauterine devices (IUDs) after medical management of first trimester incomplete abortions. The study was conducted at five health facilities with healthcare providers receiving extensive training in post abortion contraceptive counselling and service provision. Data were collected using interviewer administered questionnaires during post abortion follow up visits, with the primary outcome being actual insertion of post abortion IUDs.
