Using mobile audiometry (Wulira App) to assess noise induced hearing loss among industrial workers in Kampala, Uganda: A cross-sectional study
This cross-sectional study investigated the prevalence of occupational hearing loss among workers in a metal industry company in Kampala district using the Wulira app, a mobile audiometry tool. The researchers recruited 354 participants from a steel and iron manufacturing industry and assessed them for noise induced hearing loss using the Wulira app in a quiet office room. The study aimed to validate the use of mobile audiometry as a cost-effective alternative to pure tone audiometry for screening occupational hearing loss in low-income countries where traditional screening is rarely done due to technical and logistical challenges.
