Makerere University Research and Innovations Fund and College of Health Sciences Open Day
It is with pleasure that we invite you to be part of the engagement where research and innovation outputs that our researchers have worked on, developed and produced using funding from the Government of the Republic of Uganda will be shared, discussed and showcased. This funding is being received by Makerere University through the Research and Innovations Fund (RIF). The fund is aimed at supporting the generation and translation of high impact Research and Innovations to drive Uganda’s Development Agenda.
The three objectives of the fund include;
- To develop and fund a robust research agenda based on National development priorities identified from academia, government, implementing partners, and industries.
- To support the dissemination of high-quality research and innovations in a way that impacts development policies and programs
- To support the growth of research leadership capacity in the university
Since Financial Year 2019/20, the fund has supported and is supporting 587 multidisciplinary research and innovation projects across the various colleges at Makerere University including Makerere University Business School (MUBS). Specifically, the College of Health Sciences has obtained 174 grants across the two financial years. It is upon this background that the Mak-RIF office in collaboration with Makerere University College of Health Sciences (CHS) is organizing an Open Day to showcase some of the outputs that have arisen from the different research and innovation projects in line with objective 2 of the Fund. This is the engagement to which you are invited.
Gladly, we will host 39 projects on Tuesday May 25th, 2021 with a few stakeholders participating physically at the exhibition at College of Health Sciences Deans Gardens and presentations at the Davis Lecture Theatre and more participants joining in virtually. It will be a half-day event from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm EAT. Your participation in this event as an essential stakeholder will be of value-add, given all the efforts towards steering Makerere University towards a research-led institution.
